We all know that Mondays can sometimes be a drag, but if we start our day right – by fueling our body – then maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad Monday. Today in our Monday Motivation Meal series, we provide info on a nice, healthy and tropical breakfast that will also help fight colorectal cancer.
Tropical fruits, such as mangos, papayas, kiwi, bananas and oranges contain a great amount of Folate (Vitamin B9). Studies from Harvard University have shown that consuming these types of fruit on a regular basis can drastically reduce your chance of getting colon cancer by 40%.
For those who are not lactose intolerant, drinking a couple of glasses of milk per day can also help lessen your chances of getting colon cancer by about 15%. For me, that’s just two bowls of Special K cereal in the morning.
Steer to the left, and ditch the coffee by replacing it with green tea. I know, I know – it’s hard to kick coffee to the curb, but by drinking 3-4 cups of hot green tea a day, you can help prevent colon cancer even more! The compounds in tea help disable cancer-causing agents and can also stymie the growth of cancer cells and encourage them to self-destruct. With this kind of breakfast, colorectal cancer doesn’t stand a chance.
