If one of your co-workers was diagnosed with Colon Cancer, how would you go about supporting them?
Dr. Robert Johnson, an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Oregon, has chosen to ride his bike across America to raise awareness and funds for his his co-worker Ben Douglas, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer just this past June.
“I approached the administration to see if I could arrive about a month later than expected so I could ride my bike across the country to raise funds to support Ben Douglas and bring attention to colon cancer,” Johnson said. “The administration was in support of this ride.”
Dr. Johnson has been in long distance and competitive bike races for a while now, and he began his trip on August 13th, 2016. He is currently traveling about 120 miles each day, and the total trip will be about 3,500 miles. To hear more about Ben’s story and to keep up with Dr. Johnson and his journey, click the link below.
